MOOR ALLERTON St JOHNS CHURCH
 

Situated in the Grounds of St Johns Church on Harrogate Road the Memorial Cross remembering the 31 men of Moor Allerton who gave their lives in World War One. Unveiled by Colonel Albert Edward Kirk Commanding Officer of the Leeds Rifles and Reverend Godwin Birchenough on the 8th October 1921. The cross was designed by Herbert Ambler and constructed by J. T. Wright Ltd. of Leeds.

His mortars were under heavy shell fire in the front line, and inflicted great loss on the attacking enemy."

Landed France 16/09/1914. Henry was KIA at the Battle of Messines between Messines and the Comines Canal on the evening of the 30th October when the Bavarian Corps made an attack on the british positions.
