1914: Thrown off his horse 12th August in Briggate whilst the Leeds Rifles were on their way to board a train at Marsh Lane Station to go to Selby. Thomas passed away at Leeds general Infirmary from a suspected fractured skull, leaving four children Edith never married again. Thomas death was reported around the country including the Birmingham Daily Post.

1915: December Enlisted in Leeds, residence No 9 Pollard Street New Wortley Occupation Blacksmith. Described as being 5ft 8 inchest tall with a chest size of 38.
​
1918: 06th November Laid to Rest Leeds General Cemetery.
​
Herbert never saw service abroad and whilst stationed in Ramsgate was taken ill on the 27/10/1918 and admitted to a temporary hospital in the town. His condition got worse and he was sent by ambulance to a facility in Sandwich. On admission Herbert is reported to have been " Deeply cyanosed, restless, delirious, with a pulse of 120.
In spite of all stimulating treatment strychnine, brandy, hot bottles, oxygen" Herbert never rallied and passed away at 17.05 on the 29/10/1918, of Influenza (Spanish Flu) and Broncho Pneumonia.
​
Lily can be seen in his service records requesting Herberts personal effects and many months after he died she received a 9ct gold ring, a watch, a purse and metal belt buckle.

1893: Found Guilty at Leeds Assizes on the 18th October alongside Harry Stoner of stealing from a Charles Herbert Powell a gold watch, a gold chain, a purse containing 7 shillings and a pendant all a total value of £6.00. Sentenced to three months hard labour.

1903: Married Clara Elizabeth Card 28th February St Cuthberts York.
​
1915: Residence 8 Harold Avenue Burley, Occupation Warehouseman.
Enlisted and served in the Kings Own Scottish borderers Service Number 4814. Died Leeds Royal Infirmary as a result of an Accident reported that he was run over at the Leeds steelworks.

1918: 16th April George was captured by the Germans in Belgium and was held as a prisoner at Dulman Prisoner of War Camp Haltern-Sythen Germany.
​
1918: Distinguished Conduct Medal 17th April. "For Conspicuous courage and ability throughout the campaign. He has shown admirable coolness and pluck in times of stress. He took charge when his officer was wounded and organised his line whilst wounded himself. He subsequently did valuable work as Regimental Sergeant Major".
​
1919: Died from disease and amputation. Pension left to his mother Rebecca 12 Elden Street off Wordworth Street Kirkstall Road.
​
1920: George in his will left £118.00 to his mother who had remarried surname White.
​

1914: Samual was part of a force of 700 that was sent to Antwerp to relieve the Belgiums. They were shelled for three days and subsequently suffered over 500 casualties only 22 men made it back to England. Samuel like many others was captured and held as a prisoner of war in Holland.
