1911: Ernest absconded on the 20th October and was found three days later in Roundhay Park.

1914: Sent to France on the 13th August an old contemptible, part of the first BEF to arrive in France and Belgium.
Robert fought at Mons and took part in the retreat, he also fought in the Battles at Marne and Aisne in early and late September 1914.
CWGC: Parents Residence No 32 Arley Terrace Lodge Road Armley.
Robert had been KIA and buried by the Germans in a mass grave with his fellow Scots Guards. His body was moved to Perth Cemetery after the war.
