1918: Laid to Rest Lahore Cantonment South Cemetery Pakistan. Like many cemetery's in India and Pakistan it has proved impossible for the CWGC to maintain them, Horace still lies there today and is remembered on the Karachi War Memorial.

1915: Enlisted Toronto 12th April Occupation Moulder. Described as being 5 foot 4 inches tall, brown eyes and dark brown hair.

1915: Arrived in England 24th October.

1916: Landed in France 03rd May.

1917: Took part in an attack with his Battalion on Vimy Ridge on the 09th April. They had just reached their first objective when they were subjected to heavy machine gun fire.

​

John suffered a serious Gun Shot Wound to the thigh and abdomen, and was subject to a Gas attack. He was taken to No 3 Canadian General where he passed away from his wounds and gangrene from the Gas.

​
